The Third Annual University Hunger Summit engaged over 150 students, faculty and key experts in thinking about how universities and students can make an impact in the fight against hunger.
The Summit was hosted by The George Washington Center for Global Health in collaboration with the United Nations World Food Programme, The Alliance to End Hunger and The Auburn University War on Hunger Initiative and was held on the Campus of George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Today, there are more than 850 million people who go to bed hungry. In developing countries, this translates into 6 million child deaths every year from hunger-related causes. The impacts are also felt nationally, with 14 million children living in American households where people have to skip meals or eat less to make ends meet.
